Oasis Festival

This mosaic DJ booth was created as the center piece for the Arena stage at Morocco’s . The intricate patterns in Moroccan zellige tiles are mathematical, meticulous, sobering, and psychedelic. After studying how they are traditionally made I created a work that incorporated this ancient style into a contemporary piece. Ceramic and hand-cutting were replaced with translucent colored acrylic and laser-cutting. Using these modern techniques the piece could be lit from the inside and come to life as an infinitely changing visual centerpiece for the festival’s concerts.

Freestanding letters at the entrance of the festival were also hand painted to complement and contrast with the heat and colors of the Moroccan desert.
