Cut From The Chase

Cut From The Chase brought together a collection of 17 text-based works on paper. The title speaks to the directness of the texts themselves while simultaneously referring to the artistic path and processes leading up to this point. The calligraphy and hand-painted lettering were applied in various media on hand-cut paper.

A trash bin in the center of the room presents the refuse from the creation process of the paper works on the walls. It communicates the effort and waste that went into the production while simultaneously giving new life to the “scraps.”
